Corsham Running Club Beginners Group September 2017 – Open For Applications

We are delighted to announce that we are taking applications for our next beginners group which starts on Thursday September 21st 2017. If you would like to apply for a place on this program then please e-mail us with your details and we will get back to you with the next steps.

Please see our Beginners Group page for more information on the course itself and the Join Our Beginners Group page for more details on how to join the course.

Beginners Running is designed to get anyone from having little or no running experience, to being able to run a 5k at the end of a 10 week course. It is also useful to those runners who may be coming back from injury, or time away from running.

So get your applications in and your trainers on! We look forward to welcoming you all in September.

Club Championship Table – River Run and CRC Bonus Points

The Club Championship Tables have been updated following the River Run and the various events eligible for the 5 CRC Bonus points for doing some description of team event.

We had an incredible 32 runners at the River Run on Wednesday evening, although some of you aren’t on my latest members list so don’t show up in the championship tables.

If you aren’t yet a member but wish to be then please see our Joining Pages and I’ll update the championship table to reflect.

Bowood Away Run – Change of Date

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, our start and end point for this away run is now unable to accommodate us on the planned date of Tuesday the 6th of June. To that end, the committee have decided to re-schedule the Bowood run for Thursday the 8th of June instead. The runs originally planned for Thursday will be moved to Tuesday on the training schedule.

We are sorry that this may result in some of you being unable able to now attend the away run but hope you understand that this was the preferred option rather than cancelling outright. We hope that most of you will still be able to join us for a lovely scenic evening run around Bowood and then for some post run refreshments in The Lansdowne Arms afterwards.

Parking at The Lansdowne Arms will be limited but we are welcome to use their car park or the surrounding side roads. Please DO NOT park in the residents car park which is adjacent to the pub car park and marked as such. As always we strongly encourage you to car share with other CRC members if at all possible.

Corsham Running Club Family Ceilidh

Corsham Running Club would like to invite you to join us at our Family Ceilidh. Our summer event, starring the band ‘Get Reel‘, will be held on Saturday 15th July, 4pm – 9pm at Neston Memorial hall. There will be a cash bar and a fantastic raffle (top prizes so far include; afternoon tea for two at The Sign of the Angel, Lacock. Round of golf for three (18 holes) at Whitley golf club).

Tickets cost £10 per adult and £5 per child (under 14’s) and includes a BBQ and the chance to dance like you’ve never danced before! Tickets are limited and can be purchased (for yourselves or others) on club nights from any committee member or by contacting social@corshamrunningclub.co.uk.

This will be our one and only fundraising event in this years calendar and we hope to raise enough money so that we can continue to subsidise club events. We would love it if you could support us by coming along with family and friends for what will be a wonderful evening of family fun.

We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

Mo and Rachel

Member’s Race Results

Good morning all. I’ve got a little behind with updating the Member’s results but I’m rectifying that now. However the only person it affects is Dave Mackie so please if you do a race then SUBMIT YOUR RACE RESULTS.

I will do an update this evening (and I’m including Semington Slog which I know a number of you did.)

You can also do a short race report there and I’ll upload it to the website as it’s handy for anyone looking for races for next year.

Thanks, Carl

Away Runs Calendar 2017

Now that the nicer weather and lighter evenings are with us it’s time to announce the schedule of Away Runs for 2017. The first run is departing from next to the duck pond in Biddestone on Tuesday 4th April. Please note that for this run only we will meet early at 18:30 for a 18:45 start as it is still getting dark by the expected finish time.

The away run schedule for your calendars is as follows:

A few things to note:

  1. The away runs have been added to the training schedule on the website here
  2. Details of the meeting places, times and route maps can be found on the away runs page here
  3. On a day where there is an away run scheduled there will not be any club organised groups departing from the Springfield Community Campus
  4. Unless stated otherwise there will be a 3 Mile Group route, an Intermediate Group route and an Advanced Group route available at each venue
  5. Please try to car share where possible to reduce our footprint on the environment and on our guest venues

We hope to see as many of you as possible join us in taking in the beautiful local countryside (and possibly enjoy a cheeky drink in the pub at the end!).

Call for Corsham 10K volunteers

Your club needs you!

This message is for all club members, new beginners and old hands – previous 10k volunteers, those already ‘signed up’ to run or as volunteer and particularly those who don’t know how they can help (yet).

In 6 weeks time the Corsham Running Club will be hosting their biggest annual 10k & fun run race event. Last year was a massive success and this year we already have record numbers signed up. To make this year the best yet we need volunteers, LOTS of volunteers. This is your chance to give back to the club and an opportunity to support other runners.

You might have told us already that you can help – if so, please click on the Survey Monkey link below so that we can make doubly sure we have your details and any preferences. With so much to think about it also helps the 10k committee keep all this information in one place.

If you are planning to run the race you can still help with the fun run or some jobs before the race starts – please use the link below to indicate if this is the case.

If you’re not planning to run the race and haven’t yet told us you can help – please also click on the Survey Monkey link below. Don’t be shy, there’s a range of jobs to choose from; none of them difficult – all of them fun (promise!).

We need over 75 people to make this event happen, so please also rope in any family members, friends or perhaps aspiring runners. You can provide us with their details too using the link below.

Please complete by Tuesday the 20th of March after which we will allocate all jobs and get back to you with further details. If you have any questions, please e-mail machteld.luff@gmail.com.

Thanks for your support,

The Corsham Running Club 10k committee
