Hazelbury Hurrah!

Entries for the 2023 main and junior races 0n Friday 14th July are closed

Weather Update 1pm Friday 14th July: The rain has been falling as forecast but is due to ease in the early evening. However, please come prepared for wet and windy weather; anything better will be a bonus. Ground conditions on the main race are particularly muddy / slippy in places and will remain so. The going will be much slower than normal over these parts than in drier weather; road running shoes are not advised but if that’s all you have then you will need to slow down / walk and tread with care.

Car Parking Change: Because of the wet weather the car parking for participants at the the event has moved. It is still on Boxfields Road, but has hard track and is closer to the sports ground at Leafy Lane (see map below).

Corsham Running Club are absolutely delighted to confirm the fifth running of the Hazelbury Hurrah! event on Friday 14th July 2023. For race information scroll down this page.

The event will be raising funds for Corsham Running Club, Corsham Churches Food Bank, SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity and Cotswold Voluntary Wardens

In support of Corsham achieving plastic free community status, Hazelbury Hurrah! will seek to avoid & remove all single-use plastics from the event’s operations & activities this year, replacing them with sustainable alternatives.

Please follow and like us on Facebook for the very latest race updates and news building up to the event, and/or join the Hazelbury Hurrah! Club on Strava.

Proceeds from last year’s Hazelbury Hurrah! were split between Corsham Churches Food Bank, The RISE Trust and Cotswold Voluntary Wardens.  With your support, we are seeking to raise even more this year.

The Route

As part of the preparations for Hazelbury Hurrah! we regularly check the race routes. in 2022 this identified a change of gate arrangements early on in the main race that could lead to a bottleneck of runners building up and spilling on to a road at a bend. To remove that bottleneck, and with participants’ safety forefront in our mind, we decided to re-route the course. In doing so, we have also taken the opportunity to take the same route back through Quarry Hill Woods (to simplify slightly the route and signage / marshalling requirements). The change of route slightly increases the amount of road/tarmac by around 150 metres. However, the route change does not alter the total distance or character of the course substantially. The revised route for the main race used in 2022 is shown on the maps below (click to view a bigger image). A gpx file is also available to download. The junior race route is unchanged. If you have any queries or concerns about the route then please email hazelburyhurrah@corshamrunningclub.co.uk.
