About

In 1987, a group of runners from Neston formed a club, the Neston Running Club. In its early years the club flourished, having some fifty members on the books at one stage. As the years went by, interest, especially among the younger element, began to wane. Added to this, we were forced to leave our venue, the then Neston Working Mens’ Club, due to its closure in 1998. New premises were offered to the Club, these being at the Springfield Centre in Corsham. This proved to be a successful move, as our membership, which had fallen to about half a dozen runners, began to increase again.

It was decided in Nov 1999 to amalgamate the Neston Running Club, as it was still known, with the newly formed Corsham Running Club, the latter meeting at the new sports facility in Leafy Lane, Rudloe. This was a positive move, to the benefit of both Clubs. The organisational skills of the new Club Chairman, Bleddyn Williams have already proved to be very valuable to us. His ability as a coach was undoubtedly beneficial too. The remainder of the new Club Committee was recruited from existing members of the Neston Runners. The new Corsham Running Club met at the Springfield Centre, Corsham each Tuesday and Thursday evening.

The latter years have seen a change of venue for our Club, and we now meet at the Springfield Community Campus in Beechfield Road. We meet at 6:50pm for announcements and briefing, ready to run at 7:00pm. We offer a variety of groups for all levels of ability.

Corsham One Mile Club was set up in 2008. It is a group offering the chance for parents and children to run once a week for fun. It doesn’t offer coaching and therefore doesn’t have an affiliation with EA. It is run as a voluntary group, with it’s own Public Liability insurance and DBS checks on the adults who help out.

We cater for all abilities at Corsham Running Club, so feel free to pay us a visit.

Corsham Running Club is affiliated to England Athletics.
