We’ve had a few things going on this week and the obvious place to start is with the first running of the Hazelbury Hurrah!
A fantastic evening where Dave Mackie and the team pulled off what will hopefully be a mainstay in our calendar for many years to come. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive highlighting the fantastic route, the superb organisation and marshalls and of course the goody bag of proper pork pie, a beer and a donut.
A huge thank you to everyone involved whether racing or supporting.
And a big congratulations to Marie Vinolo-Young for being our first ladies winner and the new course record holder.
Away from our own race, we also had 9 members running at the Lacock Relay handicap race. If you’ve done a relay previously in the summer, they stagger your start time so that everyone finishes in a mass finish. It obviously works as all but 1 person finished within 3 minutes. Again, Marie’s improvement over the summer was on display as she came fourth.
Daniel Parker and Andrew Wood were in North Wales to take on Mount Snowdon at Man vs. Mountain. 22 miles which includes some abseiling, swimming, climbing and a touch of running.
Diane Aldridge and Debra Kearsey did a more standard run at the Chedworth Roman Trail Race.
We also had 2 runners abroad. Jamie McBrien did the North Shore Half Marathon in Auckland, New Zealand coming 6th and first CRC runner.
And a little closer to home, Damian Hall did the Ultra Trial Mont Blanc for a fourth time. Out of over 2,500 competitors and after missing out on the top 10 in the last 20 miles last year, he finished this year in 5th with a solid run and always smiling. He’s taking a year off next year so I’m sure we’ll see him at the Hazelbury Hurrah!
