The anniversary Waltz has quickly become a firm favourite in our calendar as an annual event held in November, around the same time as Remembrance Sunday.
This is a fantastic route to run at any time of the year and in order to aide with your running of this in your own time, here are the full details:
This run comes in the form of a circular route (revised from 2023) from Corsham that visits the surrounding villages of Biddestone, Colerne, Box, Bathford, Monkton Farleigh, South Wraxall, Atworth and Neston.
Of course, that is a long way (25 country miles or thereabouts) but don’t worry, the route is divided into seven sections or legs. Given the proximity to Remembrance Day, the start / finish point for each leg if you choose, is the local war memorial. The multi-terrain route is predominantly off-road.
Approximate distances for each leg are provided below along with the suggested order:
- Leg 1 Corsham to Biddestone 7km
- Leg 2 Biddestone to Colerne 6km
- Leg 3 Colerne to Box 4.5km
- Leg 4 Box to Bathford 5.5km
- Leg 5 Bathford to South Wraxall 5.5km
- Leg 6 South Wraxall to Atworth 4km
- Leg 7a Atworth to Neston (church) 4.5km
- Leg 7b Neston (church) to Corsham (all on road or solid path) 5km
It is also useful to note that the 231/X31 bus that runs between Corsham and Bath, via Box and Batheaston, enables Legs 1-3, 1-4, 3-7 or 4-7 to be run without recourse to a car.

This can be a tricky route, given it’s predominately off-road, so careful consideration will need to be given to kit, thinking about weather forecast and conditions underfoot; it would be prudent to take food / drink / waterproof top / spare clothing appropriate to the distance you are planning to cover. Given the length of this route and depending on what time you start, please think about wearing reflective high vis’ and a head torch or chest light.
Please note: cows are also routinely encountered on various parts of the route so be prepared for this “specific hazard”; below are links advising what to do when finding livestock on paths.
